day 13

Mike and I head to land early to catch all our loyal readers up with our progress. We get to Hiram’s before any of the staff and we’re treated as part of the decor.

Big shouts to Manni and Lauren making our dining experience at Hiram’s a gift of both food and valor. We gain much perspective from both and remember that we really are treading the unbeaten path.

Around lunchtime, we chop it up with Manni and regale him with some of our adventures. He really digs it, and gives us mucho good vibes. He reminds us not to get caught in the rat-race. Not to take any discouragement as a sign of failure, it’s only an opportunity for learning and growth.

Even the storm can’t ruin the energy we’ve been fortunate to receive. We welcome it! But birds want no part of this system.[youtube=http://youtu.be/SRXBRSd67mU]

We also get word of the Intracoastal Waterway clears up when we get to the inlet at Fort Pierce. We couldn’t miss it if we wanted to.

Clear difference in water clarity

Before finding a spot to anchor, we get hit by a nice little storm on the ICW.

FSM smiles upon us

Mike braves it as only he can, and Nature even smiles. (she must be in Australia)[youtube=http://youtu.be/efWw_SNals0]
